Well, I'm in the same boat as you, turns out. I downloaded Dreamweaver last night and spent a good part of the night thinking about it and using it for some simple stuff.





I found that the adobe site had some articles written precisely for the questions I was trying to solve. I'd start there.





My use of the tools might be different than what you're looking for. I am thinking about using Dreamweaver as and IDE for Ruby on Rails. So, all the information I need is classically organized and very Google-able.





You're probably facing more of a creative challenge: getting your head around a system romantically that it enhances your artistic expression. That's a little tougher to explain, but maybe easier to do. For that, I'd work backwards. I'd take your creative ideas and find ways that the Adobe suite can solve those problems. I spent a good deal of time last night at designsnack.com last night, and it's affiliated websites. Here's some flash-heavy, design-heavy approaches to development that assisted me in finding my questions through the answers they presented as designed websites.





Along the way, you're going to find ways to customize your tools that you've always got your best practices at your fingertips. So, for instance, I ended up changing 5 or 6 config files for Dreamweaver last night so that I could do my Ruby stuff easily. I found that I used the CSS tools heavily, and ignored a lot of the rest. I found that I'm going to have to configure my network differently to use some of Dreamweaver's automation tools. I experimented a little (after reading a few tutorials on the adobe site) with copying other sites' css and html into Dreamweaver and finding how Dreamweaver gives me access to the code, where the design window seems to be clunky, etc.





I know this is an indirect answer. What I'm trying to say is that Dreamweaver's a great tool to work around my thinking, but I don't know how well it is at spawning new thought. However, I chose to explore Dreamweaver because I know it's got one of the richest support libraries at my local bookstore, so I know there are going to be good resources for you there.

You can find tutorials about Dreamweaver, Fireworks and flash and also there is a book available in market which is written by Joey Lott for Flash MX ActionScript, that is great too.

As far as books go, things like the the ActionScript 3.0 BIble and Essential ActionScript 3.0 are good places to start.





One of the best books I've read (once you get a hang of the basics) is Foundation ActionScript 3.0 Animation. You'll learn A LOT of cool stuff.

Well, MX 2004 uses Actionscript 2.0, so a lot of the tutorials out there should work.
